After Eid prayers, Dua was offered for the departed souls of all those who became victims of earthquake on October 8, in all mosques of the Army.
After Eid prayers Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Ehsan Ul Haq, Vice Chief of Army Staff General Ahsan Saleem Hyat, and other senior Army Officers visited the Combined Military Hospital, Military Hospital and Field Hospital at Rawalpindi, met the injured patients who are still admitted to the hospitals following severe earthquake.
They inquired about the health of the patients, presented them the gifts and spent some time with them.
Special Eid gift packs were distributed among patients admitted to Military Hospitals at Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Abbottabad, Murree, Mangla, Jhelum, Kharian, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Lahore.
Senior Commanders at the respective stations visited the hospitals and distributed gift packs among patients and inquired about their health. Families of the senior Army Officers and other people from various walks of life also visited the patients and distributed among patients admitted in various wards.
Following October 8 earthquake over 11,000 patients were registered in these Military Hospitals while over 18,00 hundred are still admitted.
Later, General Ahsan Saleem Hyat also visited Nauseri and Chakoti the earthquake areas in Azad Kashmir. Vice Chief of Army Staff met the troops busy in relief and rescue operations and appreciated the commitment of the army troops which they have displayed during the ongoing relief and rescue operations.
He exhorted the troops to put in their best and leave no stone unturned to help their brethren in this hour of need and distress.
General Ahsan Saleem Hyat also visited the relief centre in Chakoti and met the victims of the earthquake, and inquired about their health and spent some time with them.
Lieutenant General Salahuddin Corps Commander Rawalpindi also visited earthquake-hit areas of Azad Kashmir and met the troops busy in relief and rescue operations in Muzaffarbad, Bagh and Rawlakot. Corps Commander also visited the relief centre at Muzaffarbad, Chakoti and Chiliana and met the earthquake victims.
Meanwhile relief operations continued from PAF Base Chaklala and in affected areas of Azad Kashmir and NWFP. As many as seventeen helicopters of Pakistan Army Aviation and same number of helicopters of allied countries carrying relief goods were sent from PAF Base Chaklala to affected areas.
Similarly relief operations continued in Bagh, Muzaffarbad, Neelum and Jhelum Valley in Azad Kashmir and affected areas of NWFP.
Army engineers troops remained committed in opening of roads in Neelum and Jhelum Vallies in Muzaffarbad and Kaghan Valley road and other areas of Batgaram.
It may be mentioned that over 75,000 troops of the Pakistan Army are committed in relief and rescue operations in earthquake affected areas in Azad Kashmir and NWFP. Relief and rescue operations continued on Eid day.
